Message from the Chief ExecutiveDear Candidate,Thank you for your interest in this extremely exciting and challenging post, one that will enable you to make your mark at local, regional and national levels. We believe this is a rare opportunity for someone with talent, drive and vision. Should you decide to join our team, you will be joining a cross-sector partnership determined to make a mark both locally and nationally. With close to £750 million of regeneration and growth planned for the area, we are making our mark nationally. We are a pilot for the Quirk Review, the Housing Green Paper and, with English Partnerships, a potential exemplar of New Town regeneration. We are also a Hertfordshire Pathfinder authority. In the next few months, we will be finalising our plans for the regeneration of Maylands Business Park (following the explosion at Buncefield), we will also hear if we have secured Growth Point status. We retained corporate IiP, gained numerous national awards for many services and our top team were finalists in the Municipal Journal Awards' most effective top team category. Despite good progress, we are driven to do better. Our commitment to improvement is total and we have a major programme in place to deliver it. We have an action plan to improve our Use of Resources rating whilst simultaneously making significant budget reductions. These reductions will deliver us a balanced budget and release resource to lever a further inward investment. Making such choices defines our approach towards Community Leadership and Place Shaping and should you join us, you will help implement one of the most challenging and exciting phases in our history.
